Medial Branch Nerve Block Injections

Medial Branch Nerve Block Injections

Medial branch nerves supply sensation to the facet joints in the spine.  These nerves are responsible for carrying pain signals from the facet joint to the spinal cord.  If there is inflammation in the facet joints, these nerves can be irritated, causing back or neck pain. Facet joints are between all vertebrae in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, and each has medial branch nerves.  Medial branch nerve pain is usually due to deterioration or damage to the facet joints which can make diagnosing its cause very complicated, as many different issues can cause pain in the same areas.

Medial Branch Nerve Block Injections begin with a local anesthetic and long-lasting steroid being administered into the affected facet joints using an extremely precise imaging technique known as Fluoroscopy.  This helps by reducing pain, inflammation, swelling and irritation in the area over the next 2-3 days.  Some of the benefits include High Success Rate, Non-Surgical, In-Office same day procedure and long lasting relief.
